    Before and after

I redesigned the desktop app entirely: a new design language and a new interaction paradigm.

Before: the old captions, dark blue bubbles under a toolbar. After: the new panel, a transcript above a message box and a row of call controls.

    The new desktop app

Live captions, a box that voices what you type, and the call controls in one panel.

The redesigned Ava panel: a live transcript with color-coded speakers, a “Type to voice a message” box, and the microphone, chat, headphones and End controls.

    Normal and hover states

At rest, only the captions. Hover, and the message box and controls appear.

Normal: the transcript alone. Hover state: the same transcript with the Ava badge, the message box and the controls row.

    The controls

Conversation controls, participants and ending the session, with message voicing beside the input.

The control panel annotated: voicing messages, conversation controls, participants and end session.

    Voicing a message

Type a line, then send it as a voice message.

“Hello!” typed in the message box, with a “Send voice message” tooltip over the send button.

    Floating captions

Captions on their own, with the voicing indicator, and with the mic active.

Two floating caption stacks above the controls row: one with a voicing indicator over the microphone, one with the microphone active.
